I love the thought of a Shepherd in a field keeping watch over his sheep.....I can see the peace and serenity in the field of green flecked with gold. As the Shepherd scans the field with his eyes to make sure no sheep is lost or in trouble, this act alone, reminds me of how our Shepherd JESUS, who looks down upon us from Heaven, keeps a faithful watch over us as well.
The 23rd Psalm speaks of David professing that the LORD is his Shepherd, there is nothing else or no one in the world that he needs. Have you made your relationship with JESUS a personal one yet? Is HE the only ONE you need? GOD is never more than one arm length away from us. HE is forever present, waiting for us to make the reach. We need to be the ones who do the seeking and reaching. When you do, HE will gather you in HIS arms and carry you close to HIS heart.
Like the sheep in the field you will come to recognize HIS voice and follow. HIS watchful love will lead and guide you through your path in life, never leaving you or forsaking you. Even though there are those here who will abandon you, JESUS never will!
HE has laid down HIS life for HIS sheep and therefore, we are one flock with one Shepherd, a Shepherd that gathers us under HIS protection.
So lay down those burdens, like the sheep who lay down in the field......and let HIM give you comfort, rest and peace.
LUKE 15: 4-5 "What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing."
