MARY'S TREASURE

I love to read and reread the story of CHRIST'S birth in Luke.  It is interesting how you can read a passage several times before a particular scripture jumps out at you.  In Luke 2: 19 and 51, they both say that "Mary treasured all these things in her heart."  The Message says: "Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself."

The fact that this passage is mentioned twice does put some importance on it.

At this time of year everyone is searching for the right gift or treasure for someone.....but what about our heart treasure?  Are our hearts prepared for this wonderful gift of JESUS?

The best gift we could give ourselves or someone else is the gift of JESUS.  We celebrate HIS birth every year and we are to remember and treasure in our hearts HIS coming into our dark world as a gift of grace, light, and peace for all.

But as a mother, I try to think of Mary and what she must have felt cradling that babe in her arms. It must have pierced her heart as to whether she should call HIM Son or Savior!  She must have pondered what she was supposed to do with Son who was Holy.

I can't put my mind around that lovely scene in the Manger.... but I do know there was love and such peace there.  As mothers we all remember the first time we hold our babies in our arms. Imagine Mary looking down into the face of GOD!  And yes, I am sure that Mary treasured that precious first look.....it was a treasure to hold in her heart forever.... and we are wise to treasure HIM deep within us as well.

LUKE: 2:16 "So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as HE lay in the manger." NASB

Blessings and Peace this Christmas.
