WHAT DID HE WRITE?
I think it is a fascinating thought to wonder what JESUS wrote with HIS finger on the ground when the Pharisees brought the adulteress woman to HIM for stoning. This passage in JOHN 8 is interesting because it tells us that JESUS not only wrote on the ground once, but: "....again HE stooped down and wrote on the ground." vs. 8. I have to believe HE was making every effort to write a word or words that were highly important. Important enough to emphasize that: "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." vs. 7. And HE wrote whatever HE wrote, not once but twice!
What was the word that CHRIST wrote? Was it "forgiveness"? Or was it "love"? How about: "redeemed"? We will never know because this passage doesn't tell us. Was it left unsaid for us reading it to fill in the blanks? Maybe it was. But knowing the heart of CHRIST, we can be assured that the woman saw and understood CHRIST'S love and forgiveness for her in that moment. She must have left HIS presence feeling free!
How wonderful of HIM to stand alongside the adulteress and deflect the men's plans of stoning her for her sin. Imagine what she felt when she turned around and all were gone except HIM?
CHRIST stands alongside us today.... HE is our armor and our protection in those same difficult times, when we sin and there are those who accuse and judge. We could learn such a lesson in this. To realize that we are all the same when it comes to what HE would write for our eyes only to see. Sin is sin and at the foot of the cross it is level for all. No one is better than another and GOD is not partial. We are all the same in HIS eyes because GOD only sees HIS perfect Son standing with us.
As we go through our days, let us be aware of our sins, whatever they are and know that CHRSIT our REDEEMER, our FORGIVER, is standing alone beside us, when no one else will. And HE is waiting to write upon our hearts the message of love and forgiveness.... a message that will last for all eternity.
LUKE 10: 20 ".... but rejoice that your names are written in Heaven."
If you feel led by the Spirit here.... what do you think HE wrote?

Maxine, I will ponder your question. It is such a good question as is your post. We are all level at the foot of the cross because God see Jesus, His perfect son who stand beside us. How wonderful !!!!
