ALONE IN HIS GLORY
In Death Valley there are sailing stones that weigh up to several hundred pounds that move from one spot to another, all by themselves. This happens on a sun-baked lake called Racetrack Playa. No one as of yet has actually seen these rocks move, but the evidence is clear by the trails left behind them. Researchers believe that melting snow from the surrounding mountains runs into the playa below, turning the very dry clay into slick mud, which creates the phenomenon shown in the picture above. At night the temperature drops and ice floats the rocks as well, then add the winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, and the stones are set in motion!
The picture of this one stone with a path behind it reminds me of how we can feel when we self-doubt, criticize ourselves, feel unwanted, rejected or passed over. And that feeling is being alone. It is easy to tune in to satan's lies which tell us we are alone, instead of drinking in GOD'S truth. GOD'S word and truth will build us up instead! And since we are daughters and sons of a KING, we are NEVER ALONE!
Left to our own strength, our minds turn into the "devil's workshop" where he convinces us that we are not good enough, undesirable, and worthless in this world. Our self-doubt is a perfect place for satan to take us one step lower when we feel down and out. Satan attacks our confidence, and destroys our joy and peace with his lies.
GOD, however, will never take us down into that pit of destruction... HE is our way out! When we feel we might not be good enough... GOD tells us we are! When we feel undesirable... GOD tells us we are HIS heart's desire! HIS perfect love casts out fear and doubt.... that kind of love cannot be found with anyone on this earth. HE will never leave us or forsake us... we are HIS children, inheriting HIS royal priesthood. In 2 Peter 2:5 it says: "you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to GOD through JESUS CHRIST."
In difficult circumstances, we can trust that HE will give us the courage and strength to live out our lives in HIS power alone... we can build ourselves up in HIS grace and mercy, and for that, we can give HIM all the glory HE deserves!
PSALM 117:2 "FOR GREAT IS HIS LOVE TOWARD US, AND THE FAITHFULNESS OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER."
